The darkness of self-love fills every human heart and influences every decision. God must stand outside. When a culture of self-love is formed, God is pushed to the margins of society.
The Father cannot allow this because He sees that future generations will be destroyed. He must act, not for this generation which has made its choice, but for the future generations.
His actions are called chastisements, which He has often postpones. However, when no repentance takes place, evil captures even more of the culture and the Father wonders if He made a mistake. (I speak now in human terms.)
When are chastisements God’s only option? When will He cease to relent? That is the mystery and Mary is at its center.
