Jesus placed the papacy in Peter’s heart and, through Peter, in the Church of Rome. Nothing has destroyed the papacy, nor blocked its ascendency, to a unique position in the world. Its history includes saints and sinners, but no matter who occupied Peter’s chair, the papacy weathered every Storm. The promised gift was never lost.
